Award Winning Efforts

VIBES Scottish Environment Awards: Best Small Business
These accolades highlight our commitment to excellence and sustainability in the spirits industry. Our efforts will continue into the future with an additional 17 new B Corp initiatives for 2025.
SUSTAINABLE SINCE DAY ONE
In the distillery, since day one, sustainability was a fundamental element of our business plan. The distillery was built with sustainability in mind; having photovoltaic panels on the roof and our distillation co-products being returned to our fields as natural fertilisers or being fed to our highland cattle.
Our Highlanders are the oldest registered cattle breed in the world, appearing in 6th century AD in the Highlands and the Outer Hebrides islands of Scotland. Arbikie owner, Iain Stirling, refers to these natural beauties as our 'recyclers' as they are a vital component in regenerative farming and our natural environment, recycling our spent distilling grains to enrich our farmlands.
Leaving our legacy
Homegrown Ingredients
Since our opening in 2014, we have been working on establishing a number of juniper plantations across our estate, planting approximately 1000 plants a year.
Juniper is not only critical to gin production, but the majority of the UK's juniper species is currently under threat from a pathogen, so we decided we simply had to try and help.
Along with juniper plants we’ve planted 1000's of hedges, peas and oak trees. Growing oak trees will take at least 50 years, but Arbikie Distillery is a long-term project of creating a legacy family business and this oak will allow us to have our own new oak casks for maturing whisky in the future when the next generation is running the distillery.
SUSTAINABILITY
GREEN HYDROGEN ENERGY
A Distillery Powered by the Future
Here at Arbikie we do things differently. Steam is a crucial part of the distilling process and usually derived from unsustainable methods such as fossil fuels. With the introduction of our new green hydrogen electrolyser Arbikie will become the world’s first climate positive distillery. The technology involves no alteration to the spirit making process whilst producing zero carbon emissions at combustion. We are currently installing this to maintain our momentum to being one of the world’s most sustainable distilleries.

Public Purpose Statement
Our purpose is to create exceptional Scotch gin, vodka and whisky that regenerate the land we farm, strengthen rural communities, and advance a more sustainable and transparent drinks industry.
We exist to demonstrate that provenance‑led distilling - rooted in responsible farming, low‑impact production, and long‑term stewardship - can deliver positive environmental outcomes while supporting people, place, and enduring commercial success.
Responsible Lobbying Policy
Arbikie is committed to responsible, transparent engagement with public policy as part of our mission to support an equitable, inclusive and regenerative economy. While we do not directly lobby, we work with industry bodies and ensure any positions we support are evidence-based and aligned with our sustainability values, the B Corp Standards and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We maintain a zero tolerance approach to corruption, make no political contributions, and actively review and challenge any misalignment within organisations we are part of - escalating, disclosing or withdrawing where necessary. Oversight sits with our Board, with regular reviews, internal monitoring and public reporting ensuring accountability.
Climate Action
As we grow, we are committed to reducing our impact and building a more sustainable future. Our Climate Action Plan sets out our emissions footprint, reduction priorities and key projects, alongside the actions we are taking to deliver meaningful, long-term reductions. It reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement on our journey to net zero.
Our Commitment to Human Rights
At Arbikie Distillery, we are committed to treating all people with dignity, fairness, and respect across our operations and value chain. We publicly commit to respect internationally recognised human rights standards, including:
The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
- The International Bill of Human Rights, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- The International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
This commitment underpins how we work with our employees, farmers, suppliers, partners, and communities. It includes our commitment to fair and safe working conditions, equality and nondiscrimination, and the elimination of modern slavery and child labour.
We are committed to identifying, preventing, and addressing potential human rights impacts linked to our activities.
