HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2020

What has happened in the year of 2020?

We would like to start off by highlighting that the year of 2020 has definitely not been one of greatness, however it has definitely been more than memorable. Despite the turmoil experienced this year, as a team we like to remind ourselves of what we can be grateful for, and show how thankful we are for the support we have graciously received from our customers – here is a recap of 2020.

We started of the year with the release of Nàdar Gin. The world’s first climate positive spirit. Which hopefully by now you have heard of, or even better tried it. This was a massive success for the team, especially for the three great minds behind this ground breaking achievement; Kirsty Black, Graeme Walker and Pete Iannetta. Who spent 5 years of intensive research and study formulating this pea-based spirit.

However, following the global pandemic it found the country in lockdown. Arbikie launched a ‘Cocktails at Home’ competition, to bring some excitement to those of us in the house – where anyone and everyone could join in. The winner received a bottle of the brand new Nàdar Gin and will be featured in the Arbikie cocktail book, coming in 2021.

Later in the year, Nàdar Vodka joined Nàdar Gin. Pairing together the duo a family of climate positive spirits was formed. Nàdar meaning nature in Gaelic, harnesses the power of nature and science to create the world’s first climate positive spirits. A revolutionary movement for the drinks industry, with a carbon footprint of -1.54 kg CO2e per 700ml bottle, it is at the forefront of the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss – the biggest challenges humankind has ever faced.

Following this release, Arbikie launched yet another competition ‘Give Peas a Chance’. In which bartenders were challenged to make their most sustainable creations yet. Incorporating both our climate positive Nàdar spirits, encouraged others to be mindful in their creations. Bartender Marco, from The Connaught bar in London, claimed first place in the competition with the sustainable creation bellow.

A favorite highlight of ours was November. The Arbikie team celebrated six years of their field to bottle story and were rewarded with ‘Excellence in Sustainability’ at the Scottish Whisky Awards. After which we had the final product release of this year. Arbikie 1794 Highland Rye Whisky was released, just in time for Christmas and made a great toast to round off the ’12 cocktails of Christmas’.

There we have it, 2020. Without a further ado we would like to bid you a farewell. We will continue our field-to-bottle journey into the New Year and wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2021 – we will see you at the Arbikie Distillery Experience very soon.

From all the Arbikie Team,
Sláinte.
