How long have you been bartending for?

I started working in hospitality when I was 15 years old and became a bartender when I was 18 (so 8 and a bit years)

Three qualities you believe make a good bartender

1. Smile!
No one likes a grumpy bartender, smiling and having a bit of banter can be contagious and no matter how busy or flustered, having a smilie/keeping your cool will never go unnoticed. It creates a happy tone and vibe to be in.

2. Cleanliness
You might be able to make a killer martini but it’s important you can keep your station or bar top clean and tidy. I feel it shows you’re organised, capable and most importantly you care!

3. No judgement here!
If someone wants a Pina Colada or a Sex on the Beach I’ll give them the best one they’ve ever tasted!

Retired now but the best two I worked in were The Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh and The Rum Bar in Airlie Beach, QLD. I have been bartending for 6 years on and off!

My favourite place to work was The Spiritualist Glasgow with experimental cocktail menu, great atmosphere and huge selection of spirits!

How long have you been bartending for?

I’ve been bartending ever since I’ve finished school and that very job has hooked me up for 7 years now.

How long have you been bartending for?

I’ve been bartending since my 18th birthday! Walked into Broons St.Andrews and begged for a job behind the bar – now 35 next month and couldn’t be happier!

Three qualities you believe make a good bartender?

1. I believe that it’s all about the customer, it’s called the hospitality industry for a reason. We have a cocktail list at the bar but always keen to make something creative and new for the customers based on their flavour profile or what they are looking for at the time.

2. A love for learning. I get to work with some great brands and learn from the very best! I love working for Arbikie because their core values are something that is very important to me.

3. I think a love of food and being a bit of a geek! I love trying new flavour combinations in the kitchen so it works the same way behind a bar.

Favourite Arbikie cocktail?

My favourite cocktail using Arbikie would be our Chocolate Chilli Espresso Martini at work using Haar Vodka, that, or a simple Bloody Mary with Arbikie Chilli ????

25ml fresh Lime juice
20ml Agave syrup
Half chilli flaked rim
Shaken and Served over ice in rocks glass
